Cookie Policy
What cookies the site sets, why they exist, and how to refuse them.
Last reviewed on May 13, 2026
In short: The text-to-speech converter itself does not need cookies — it runs locally in your browser. The website uses Google Analytics for traffic measurement and Google AdSense for advertising, and those services set cookies. You can refuse or remove them at any time using the controls described below.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Some cookies are erased when you close the browser ("session cookies"); others stay on the device for a defined period ("persistent cookies"). Similar technologies — local storage, IndexedDB, pixel tags — are used for comparable purposes, and "cookies" in this policy refers to all of them collectively.
2. Categories of cookies used on this site
2.1 Strictly necessary
Required for the website to load and run. These do not require consent under most privacy laws. We currently use none beyond what the hosting platform and Content Delivery Network may set transparently for security and load balancing.
2.2 Preferences
If you adjust voice, speed, pitch, or volume settings in the converter, those values are kept in your browser using local storage so the controls are familiar next time you visit. Nothing here is transmitted off your device.
2.3 Analytics — Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-B97G0WPRXB) to understand which pages people read and where visitors come from. Cookies set by Google Analytics include:
| Cookie | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes unique users | ~2 years |
_ga_<container-id> | Persists session state for GA4 | ~2 years |
_gid | Distinguishes users (24 h window) | ~24 hours |
Google's data practices for Analytics are described at policies.google.com/privacy and in the Analytics safeguards documentation. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
2.4 Advertising — Google AdSense
Ads on this site are served by Google AdSense and its partners. These services set cookies and similar identifiers in order to:
- Show ads relevant to the page or to your interests
- Measure ad performance (impressions, clicks)
- Limit how often you see the same ad ("frequency capping")
- Detect invalid traffic and fraud
Cookies in this category may include IDE, DSID, NID, __gads, __gpi, and others operated by Google and certified ad partners. Durations range from a few hours up to roughly two years depending on the cookie.
Google's complete and current list of cookies used for advertising is published at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies. The way Google uses information from sites that use its services is documented at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
3. How to refuse or remove cookies
3.1 Browser controls
Every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies. Search your browser's settings for "Cookies and site data" or "Privacy". You can typically:
- Block third-party cookies (this disables most advertising cookies)
- Clear all cookies for a specific site
- Enable a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal
Blocking cookies will not break the text-to-speech converter, since the converter runs locally and does not rely on them.
3.2 Opting out of personalized advertising
You can turn off personalized ads from Google specifically at Google Ads Settings. After opting out, you may still see ads, but they will not be tailored to your inferred interests.
For other ad networks, industry opt-out tools are available:
- EU / EEA: YourOnlineChoices.eu
- USA: DAA WebChoices and NAI opt-out
- Canada: YourAdChoices.ca
3.3 Mobile devices
On iOS, "Limit Ad Tracking" (Settings → Privacy → Tracking) controls advertising identifiers. On Android, "Reset advertising ID" and "Opt out of Ads Personalization" are under Settings → Privacy → Ads.
4. Children
We do not knowingly target advertising at children. The site is general-audience and not designed for users under 13 (or under 16 in the EU).
5. Changes to this Cookie Policy
If we add a new third-party service, change advertising partners, or revise the categories above, we will update this page and refresh the "Last reviewed" date. For substantive changes we will also note the update on the homepage.
6. Related policies
See the Privacy Policy for the broader description of how data is handled, and the Terms of Service for the conditions of using the site.
